The short answer: glue never, special tools never, batteries hardly ever. The long answer depends on the model. Here it is, point by point.
Glue
Not needed, for any model. The parts are laser-cut and slot together. The fit is so tight that the joints hold without glue.
Tools
No special tools. The parts are pre-cut in the plywood board and are pressed out with your fingers. All you need is a clear table and good light.
Sandpaper and wax are the only aids that matter: sandpaper smooths edges, wax helps gears and axles run more easily. Some models include both, for example the marble run with step lift and the cargo truck. Where they are not included, fine sandpaper from a DIY store and a piece of candle wax will do.
Batteries
Most models work purely mechanically: with a spring drive, rubber-band motor, pendulum or crank. The clocks do not need a battery either — they are wound up.
The exceptions are models with lights. The Split Rock Lighthouse has an LED light, a battery compartment, a charging port and an on/off switch. Exactly what such models need and what is included is stated on each product page.
Paints
The models to paint come without paints or brushes. Almost anything you have at home works: acrylics, gouache, watercolours, felt-tip pens.
Marbles
With the marble runs, the marbles are part of the kit.
If a part breaks
It happens, especially with thin parts. Tell us which model and which part number are affected. Spare parts are free. They are sent by the manufacturer from within the EU, with no customs fees.
