The UGEARS Star Wars™ series consists of licensed wooden model kits: you press the parts out of laser-cut plywood boards and slot them together without glue. The entry point is around 180 parts and about 3 hours of building; the largest model in the series has 1,235 parts and takes about 50 hours. The series is aimed at teenagers and adults.
What sets these models apart from a display figure
The mechanics are part of the kit, not an accessory: spring drives, pull mechanisms and levers take shape as you build and stay visible and working on the finished model.
Wood instead of plastic — what that means for the build
If you are used to building bricks, you are building something different here. The parts sit in plywood boards and are pressed out; some edges are smoothed, and moving parts are treated with wax. That takes longer, and it feels different: wood has grain, weight and smell.
One point that is often misunderstood: a finished model can certainly be taken apart. It is just that slotting wooden parts together takes more effort than clicking plastic bricks together — the fit is tighter and the joints are designed to be assembled once. In practice, a model is therefore built once and then stays that way. If you want to rebuild regularly, plastic bricks will suit you better. Both are good building projects. They are just not the same thing.

Frequently asked questions
Is it like a building-brick set?
No. The parts are made of laser-cut plywood and are pressed out of boards. Building takes longer, the mechanics remain visible on the finished model, and a wooden model cannot sensibly be taken apart and rebuilt again and again.
Can I take the model apart again?
Technically, yes. In practice, putting it back together is much more work than with plastic bricks, because the wooden joints fit tightly and are designed to be assembled once. Most people build once and then put the model on display.
Are the models made entirely of wood?
Mostly, but not exclusively. Depending on the model, cardboard, fibreboard, metal or rubber are added — wherever plywood would be too soft or too thick. What a particular model is made of is stated on its product page.
Are batteries included?
No. Several models in the series have LED lighting or a small motor and need batteries or a USB-C power supply. Neither batteries nor a power adapter or cable are included. Which type is needed is stated on each product page.
Can models be combined?
The X-wing and TIE fighter can: the two stands are joined with the connectors provided and form a larger section of the Death Star surface.
If a part breaks
Spare parts are free. They come directly from the manufacturer, shipped within the EU. All you need is the model name and the part number — the number is on the plywood board and in the instructions.
