Description
The Golden Snitch™ recreates the Snitch from Harry Potter™ – a spring mechanism sets its wooden wings fluttering.
A pull string sits on top of the Snitch. Pull it to wind an internal drum; let go and the feathery wings start to flap. Hold the Snitch in your hand and it tries to escape. Hold it by the pull ring with the model below, and it flies up to meet your hand. The ratchet runs quietly.
In Quidditch™, the team whose Seeker catches the Snitch scores 150 points and wins the game. When not in play, it rests on its stand, or you can hang it from a hook by the eyelet on the pull string. A project for an afternoon – 120 parts, about 3 hours, easy difficulty.

Laser-cut edges, open mechanics, visible wood grain: every part is laser-cut from plywood so precisely that it fits without glue. Gears, levers and shafts stay visible – the mechanism is part of the design.
