Description

The Pickup Lumberjack is a working pickup with a spring motor and a V8 under the hood – it travels up to 6 meters and hauls 400 to 450 g in its bed.

Energy from the spring (1 m × 7 mm) passes through a gear set that increases the gear ratio, then through the gearbox to the driveshaft, differential and rear axle. You choose between R, N and D, and a Start/Stop mechanism in the truck bed sets it off on command. The winding knob is styled as an open-top air filter rising from the hood.

Under the hood, the V8's pistons are moving, while a small pendulum under the seats simulates the shaking of a powerful engine. The steering wheel turns the front wheels, which lock in place for curves. Bent plywood gives the model the rounded lines of a classic pickup.

A project for several evenings – 460 parts, about 8 hours.
