Description

The Treasure Box is a puzzle box with a hidden locking mechanism – and the key is built into the lid.

It takes its cue from intricate Victorian-era boxes: delicate through-carved woodwork in several layers, with a mechanism behind it that only opens with the right moves. The key plays the central role, but solving the whole puzzle takes several thoughtful steps. As you twist and turn the components, you can see the gears moving inside.

Once solved, the box reveals its compartment – room for jewelry, notes or other small treasures. As a gift it works twice: as a kit to build, or as packaging to hide a present in.

A project for two evenings – 190 parts, about 4–5 hours.
