Description
Split Rock Lighthouse: a replica of the iconic Minnesota beacon on Lake Superior, with a warm LED light that doubles as a nightlight.
The original stands on a 133-foot sheer cliff above the lake. The model shows the octagonal tower with the attached keeper’s house, and laser engraving reproduces the look of stone and brickwork. The door opens and shuts via a rubber band mechanism, and when you tilt the model, the curtains in the windows sway.
Power the warm LED light via USB-C with a phone charging cable or with three AA batteries; the port and on/off switch sit on the side of the house. That makes the lighthouse a nightlight for your home, office or a child’s bedroom. A weekend project – 295 parts, about 6 hours.

Laser-cut edges, open mechanics, visible wood grain: every part is laser-cut from plywood so precisely that it fits without glue. Gears, levers and shafts stay visible – the mechanism is part of the design.
