The pendulum is a stylized construction model, an interactive study guide for the mechanism with the purpose of learning its basics and principles of work. The pendulum is one of the most basic and most reliable timing mechanisms. The working principle is based on the constant amplitude oscillation of the model under the gravitational weight and potential energy tensile force of the rubber band. The elastic band supplies the model's mechanism and compensates for the loss of kinetic energyust of the pendulum. The device is animated by means of a gear with a winding wheel.

The model has an anchor escapement that controls the frequency of the vibrations, a weight, a scape wheel, a gearbox, a rubber band, a ratchet and a pawl that reduce operational error. The model has various means of controlling the oscillation frequency: the weight of the pendulum, the vertical position of the weight onthe pendulum and the tension of the rubber band.
