Description

The V-Express Steam Train with Tender is an express steam locomotive with an open, retro-futuristic design – rubber band motor, forward, reverse and idle.

The open body lets you watch the gears, flywheel and cylinder-piston arrangement at work – a near-exact miniature of one of the main mechanical assemblies of a real locomotive. One full winding takes the train up to 4 meters along its track. A small lever on the side sets the direction; in idle you can watch the mechanism run without the train taking off. Switch to reverse and the locomotive rolls back and couples to its tender automatically.

A project for several evenings – 538 parts, about 12 hours. The finished train measures 56 × 12 × 12 cm.
